Quick update

Last night I finished painting the letters to hang above the crib in Andy's room; I did them to match his zoo bedding set:

And here we are last weekend, 32 weeks pregnant:

At an appointment yesterday, everything is still good. My blood pressure was just 104/50 - even lower than usual! It's usually somewhere around 115/60, give or take, but it just seemed really low to me yesterday (still good and normal). Maybe because Kaylee was at a friend's house all day and I had time to get in a nap before my appointment? Otherwise all is well, too; heartbeat still nice and strong, and I didn't even gain a ton of extra weight thanks to Christmas eating. :) Just 48 days left now, but who's counting??

8 weeks to go!

Hard to believe Andy will be here in 8 weeks! We are so busy through the end of January it should make the time go faster...hopefully the last couple weeks won't seem like forever. :)

Here's Andy & me the weekend before last (at 30 weeks pregnant):

Tired Mama

For the past week or so Andy has decided it's play time between about 5-6am, give or take 30 min on either end. Ugh. A friend suggested it's because I've been getting up to use the bathroom around 4:30 and the empty bladder gives him room to stretch out and move around more. Great. Time to limit the fluids before bed and/or learn to hold it, I guess. Once he arrives, he's going to learn pretty quick that we don't get up early around here!

Yikes!

Kaylee usually sleeps until about 7:45-8am in the morning and if we don't have places to be and people to see, I often sleep until about then, too. The c-section on 2/15 was scheduled for noon, but I just got a call that it's been rescheduled...same day, now at 7:45am...and we have to be there 2 hours early. Eep! So we get to start our lack of sleep a night earlier than expected.

So who wants to stay with Kaylee and get her ready for school that morning??

Updated birth date

Looks like Andy will be making an earlier appearance than we'd thought...my doctor is not available on February 18 or 21, so we're scheduled for Tuesday, Feb 15! So unless Andy decides he wants to make his grand debut even earlier (very doubtful!), his birthday will be the day after Valentine's Day next year. Less than 3 months!!

For those of you counting down the days (maybe it's just me?) - just 90 to go as of today!

Birth date?

I just got back from an appointment and everything seems in order. Andy's heart rate was 160 beats/min. The doctor also said we can go ahead and schedule the c-section! I'm waiting to hear back if she's available on 2/18, otherwise we'll schedule it for Monday, 2/21. So unless he decides to make an earlier appearance, Andy will be here at least by the 21st, if not 18th, of February! I'll post an update once we have the date set. We'll schedule the c-section at Northside Forsyth Hospital; the Women's Center opened for baby deliveries in the fall of 2008, just about 6 or so months too late for Kaylee to be born there. That hospital is just a 10 minute drive from our house, so much more convenient - Northside Atlanta is only about 25-30 minutes away, but you never know how traffic will be on GA400, so there's the potential for it to take much much longer than that.

Less than 100 days until Andy's birth day!

Free 3D Ultrasound!

I just got a free 3D/4D ultrasound peek at Andy! A place nearby was running a special quick-look (~10 min) freebie just for tonight; thanks to a friend for letting me know! Jamie stayed home to put Kaylee in bed, so I went alone, and I didn't get any images, but it was nice to get another peek. Andy looks much more like a baby and less like a skeletal alien now (whew). He's measuring 1lb 4oz and about a foot long - right on track. Only about 17 weeks until he's here!

New name? Um, no.

Kaylee knows the baby's name is Andy (we hear a lot of, "let's go see Andy's room!" and "did I smush Andy?" (the latter after she pokes me in the stomach)). Tonight I asked her if she remembered his whole name and she said, "yes, I do. Frankenstein Andy Ryan Caesar Spanky." Oh, boy...

More confirmation

I had my "20 week" ultrasound today - at 19 weeks and 1 day. They schedule it between 18-22 weeks, though the ultrasound technician I saw said it's best to do at 20+ weeks as the babies are more developed and the techs can get all the images they need. I remember we went in "early" with Kaylee, too - around 19 weeks - and they couldn't get what they needed, so we had another ultrasound at about 23 weeks with her. Luckily for the tech, she was able to get the images she needed (and unluckily for me, as now I don't get another ultrasound until possibly near the end - and only then if they're worried about something!).

The tech only printed these three images for me:

Left side: head on the right, hand near face, leg bent with knee near fist.
Right side: head on the left, facing image; body to the right; arms on either side of body with hands near head (think "hear no evil")

Left foot on left side; right foot on right side (though you can see both in each image).

More confirmation he's all boy!

No longer just Spanky!

So before we had a name picked out, we (mostly Kaylee) were calling the baby Spanky. Luckily for little Spanky, he now has a real name: Andrew Ryan Caesar! (aka Andy) A few days ago, before we had decided for sure, I was asking Kaylee about a few names. I asked if we should call her brother Andy and she said, "NO! Andy is on my show!" I didn't know what show she was talking about and asked her. She said, "Toy Story!" (Probably her favorite movie.) Ahh, yes. I told her that it's okay to have more than one Andy, but I don't know that she was convinced. The next morning when I asked her what we should name her brother she said, "maybe Andy is okay." Glad she came around!

It's a Boy!

Jamie, Kaylee and I went to a 3D/4D ultrasound session today to find out if Kaylee will have a little brother or sister. Our earlier ultrasound at the doctor seemed to indicate boy, and that was confirmed today. Now to think of a name...

It's a...boy?

Today's early ultrasound indicates it's a boy (see 2nd image); we'll have a couple more scans to confirm later, as this is pretty early to tell for sure (just 12 weeks and 4 days pregnant). The ultrasound technician said the umbilical cord was down around the baby's privates, so while it looks like a boy it is possible that it's the cord in the way. As long as the baby cooperates, we'll find out for sure at our 3D session on Sept 4!

Profile of the baby, with head on the left and a hand near the mouth

Showing us the goods? Best way I can think to describe this is to imagine the baby sat on a copier machine naked...rear end is near the bottom right of the image, thighs are the whiter parts to either side of the privates (the ultrasound tech put the cursor (+) by what she said looked like boy parts).
